Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) and the host North Brunswick Scorpions (Leland, NC), saw Laney's basketball squad wallop North Brunswick by a tally of 55-34.

With the victory, Laney improves its record to 13-0 on the campaign. The Buccaneers host New Hanover (Wilmington, NC) to confront the Wildcats in a 3A/4A Conference 20 challenge on Tuesday, January 3. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a record of 8-1. New Hanover lost 43-36 in their recent non-league challenge against Hopewell (Huntersville, NC)

Next up, the Scorpions confront the Hoggard Vikings (Wilmington, NC) in a 3A/4A Conference 20 challenge, on Tuesday, January 3. North Brunswick will attempt to improve on its 7-6 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 9-4 record after their 82-80 non-league loss to Cox Mill (Concord, NC).
