North Carolina High School Basketball - New Hanover knocked off by Laney

January 3, 2023: Wilmington, NC 28405

The Laney Buccaneers basketball team scored 58 points and held the visiting New Hanover Wildcats to 40 in the Buccaneers league triumph on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers now sport a 9-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to South Brunswick for a 3A/4A Conference 20 contest on Friday, January 6. Laney will meet a Cougars team coming off a 57-11 league loss to Ashley (Wilmington, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 1-8.

The Wildcats (5-5) will now prepare for their contest against Topsail (Hampstead, NC). The Pirates enter the 3A/4A Conference 20 contest with a 10-4 record. In their last contest, Topsail ran past West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC), 60-36, in a league contest.
