Sherman Bearcats (Sherman, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Melissa Cardinals (Melissa, TX), 62-47 in a league bout.

With the win, Sherman upgrades its record to 15-8 on the season. The Bearcats travel to Greenville (Greenville, TX) to clash with the Lions in a 5A Region II District 13 bout on Friday, January 6. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 2-18. Greenville lost 55-42 in their recent league bout against Melissa (Melissa, TX)

Next up, the Cardinals clash with the Denison Yellow Jackets (Denison, TX) in a 5A Region II District 13 bout, on Friday, January 6. Melissa will attempt to upgrade on its 9-16 season record. The Yellow Jackets go into the bout with a 10-12 record after their 65-54 league loss to Lovejoy (Lucas, TX).
