Connecticut High School Basketball - Wheeler holds off Tourtellotte
January 5, 2023: North Grosvenordale, CT 06255 Fans at Thursday's league challenge between the Wheeler Lions (North Stonington, CT) and the host Tourtellotte Tigers (North Grosvenordale, CT), saw Wheeler's basketball squad hold off Tourtellotte by a tally of 44-38.
With the victory, Wheeler improves its record to 4-3 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Putnam (Putnam, CT) to confront the Clippers in a Eastern Connecticut IV challenge on Saturday, January 7. The Clippers come into the challenge with a record of 5-3. Putnam lost 59-52 in their recent league challenge against Lyman Memorial (Lebanon, CT)
Next up, the Tigers confront the Plainfield Panthers (Central Village, CT) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 7. Tourtellotte will attempt to improve on its 2-4 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 0-5 record after their 64-37 non-league loss to Killingly (Killingly, CT).
