In Friday's league outing, the Pioneer Diamondbacks (Mission, TX) basketball squad nipped the visiting Sharyland Rattlers (Mission, TX), by a margin of 48-45.

The Diamondbacks (13-10) will now prepare for their outing against Valley View (Pharr, TX). The Tigers go into the 5A Region IV District 31 outing with a 9-16 record. In their last outing, Valley View was tipped by McAllen (McAllen, TX), 72-51, in a league outing.

The Rattlers now own a 6-12 record. They play next when they travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial for a 5A Region IV District 31 outing on Tuesday, January 9. Sharyland will clash with a Wolverines squad coming off a 60-43 league loss to Vela (Edinburg, TX). The Wolverines record now stands at 11-13.
