Georgia High School Basketball - Newton holds off South Gwinnett
January 6, 2023: Covington, GA 30014 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Newton Rams (Covington, GA) and the visiting South Gwinnett Comets (Snellville, GA), saw Newton's basketball squad hold off South Gwinnett by a tally of 62-57.
With the victory, Newton improves its record to 10-5 on the campaign. The Rams travel to Brookwood (Snellville, GA) to confront the Broncos in a AAAAAAA Region 4 challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Broncos come into the challenge with a record of 9-6. Brookwood lost 63-49 in their recent league challenge against Grayson (Loganville, GA)
Next up, the Comets confront the Cedar Grove Saints (Ellenwood, GA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 7. South Gwinnett will attempt to improve on its 10-4 season record. The Saints come into the challenge with a 10-2 record after their 69-53 non-league win over St. Francis (Alpharetta, GA).
