The Loyd Star Hornets basketball team scored 55 points and held the host Amite County Trojans to 52 in the Hornets league triumph on Tuesday.

The Hornets now sport a 10-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host East Marion for a 2A Region 7 contest on Friday, January 13. Loyd Star will meet a Eagles team coming off a 70-21 league win over West Lincoln (Brookhaven, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 10-2.

The Trojans (1-11) will now prepare for their contest against West Lincoln (Brookhaven, MS). The Bears enter the 2A Region 7 contest with a 2-14 record. In their last contest, West Lincoln was nudged by Enterprise (Brookhaven, MS), 50-46, in a non-league contest.
