Taft Greyhounds (Taft, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting George West Longhorns (George West, TX), 69-52 in a league bout.

With the win, Taft upgrades its record to 17-9 on the season. The Greyhounds travel to Aransas Pass (Aransas Pass, TX) to play the Panthers in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 10-16. Aransas Pass won 79-47 in their recent league bout against Goliad (Goliad, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns play the Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. George West will attempt to upgrade on its 13-9 season record. The Pirates go into the bout with a 11-11 record after their 38-36 league loss to Odem (Odem, TX).
