Volcano Vista Hawks (Albuquerque, NM) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Eldorado Golden Eagles (Albuquerque, NM), 66-60 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Volcano Vista upgrades its record to 17-0 on the campaign. The Hawks host Cibola (Albuquerque, NM) to play the Cougars in a 5A District 1 bout on Thursday, January 19. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 3-13.

Next up, the Golden Eagles play the Piedra Vista Panthers (Farmington, NM) in a 5A District 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Eldorado will attempt to upgrade on its 10-6 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 2-14 record after their 58-52 non-league win over Aztec (Aztec, NM).
