In Tuesday's league contest, the visiting Newaygo Lions basketball team scored a close 37-31 win over the Kent City Eagles.

The Lions (7-2) will now prepare for their contest against Chippewa Hills (Remus, MI). The Warriors come into the Central State contest with a 1-7 record. In their last bout, Chippewa Hills was edged by Ithaca (Ithaca, MI), 40-29, in a non-league bout.

With the loss, Kent City falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Eagles host Morley Stanwood (Morley, MI) to play the Mohawks in a Central State bout on Friday, January 17. The Mohawks go into the bout with a record of 7-1. Morley Stanwood won 53-29 in their recent league bout against Tri County Area (Howard City, MI)
