In Saturday's non-league outing, the Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) basketball squad overwhelmed the host Beaver Falls Tigers (Beaver Falls, PA), by a count of 70-46.

The Scotties (12-1) will now prepare for their outing against Western Beaver (Industry, PA). The Golden Beavers go into the WPIAL 1A 1 outing with a 3-4 record. In their last outing, Western Beaver smashed Nazareth Prep (Pittsburgh, PA), 41-39, in a league outing.

The Tigers now hold a 6-8 record. They play next when they travel to Riverside for a WPIAL 3A 1 outing on Tuesday, January 18. Beaver Falls will clash with a Panthers squad coming off a 54-50 league loss to Mohawk Area (Bessemer, PA). The Panthers record now stands at 4-10.
