Amherst Broncos (Amherst, NE) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Cozad Haymakers (Cozad, NE), 44-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Amherst upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Broncos host Gibbon (Gibbon, NE) to play the Buffaloes in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 18. The Buffaloes come into the bout with a record of 2-10. Gibbon won 42-35 in their recent non-league bout against Blue Hill (Blue Hill, NE)

Next up, the Haymakers play the Lexington Minutemen (Lexington, NE) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, January 18. Cozad will attempt to upgrade on its 11-3 season record. The Minutemen come into the bout with a 2-9 record after their 49-35 non-league win over McCook (McCook, NE).
