The Newberry Panthers (Newberry, FL) basketball nipped the host Dixie County Bears (Cross City, FL), 60-53 in Tuesday's league test.

The Panthers (10-7) will now prepare for their test against Hawthorne (Hawthorne, FL). The Hornets go into the non-league test with a 13-9 record. In their last test, Hawthorne got by Bell (Bell, FL), 80-36, in a league test.

The Bears now own a 11-5 record. They take the field next when they host Williston for a 3A District 5 test on Thursday, January 24. Dixie County will clash with a Red Devils squad coming off a 53-31 league win over Fort White (Fort White, FL). The Red Devils record now stands at 14-6.
