North Carolina High School Basketball - Watauga nips Freedom

Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) and the host Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), saw Watauga's basketball squad hold off Freedom by a tally of 70-67.

With the victory, Watauga improves its record to 13-3 on the campaign. The Pioneers host Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC) to play the Cougars in a 3A/4A Northwestern challenge on Wednesday, January 24. The Cougars come into the challenge with a record of 16-1. Alexander Central won 50-44 in their recent league challenge against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC)

Next up, the Patriots play the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) in a 3A/4A Northwestern challenge, on Wednesday, January 24. Freedom will attempt to improve on its 10-6 season record. The Huskies come into the challenge with a 10-6 record after their 56-48 league win over South Caldwell (Hudson, NC).
