Mississippi High School Basketball - Newton tops Scott Central
January 26, 2024: Newton, MS 39345 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) and the visiting Scott Central Rebels (Forest, MS), saw Newton's basketball squad knock off Scott Central by a tally of 47-29.
With the victory, Newton improves its record to 17-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Lake (Lake, MS) to play the Hornets in a 2A Region 5 challenge on Tuesday, January 30. The Hornets come into the challenge with a record of 8-13. Lake lost 47-30 in their recent league challenge against Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS)
Next up, the Rebels play the Leake Central Gators (Carthage, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 30. Scott Central will attempt to improve on its 13-11 season record. The Gators come into the challenge with a 15-6 record after their 85-40 league loss to Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS).
