The East Carteret Mariners basketball team scored 85 points and held the host Northside - Pinetown Panthers to 44 in the Mariners league triumph on Friday.

The Mariners now sport a 12-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Jones for a 1A/2A Conference 3 contest on Tuesday, January 31. East Carteret will meet a Trojans team coming off a 79-56 league win over Lejeune (Camp Lejeune, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 8-6.

The Panthers (5-13) will now prepare for their contest against Southside (Chocowinity, NC). The Seahawks enter the 1A/2A Conference 3 contest with a 6-11 record. In their last contest, Southside was routed by Pamlico County (Bayboro, NC), 75-39, in a league contest.
