Hammond Tornadoes (Hammond, LA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Covington Lions (Covington, LA), 73-65 in a league bout.

With the victory, Hammond upgrades its record to 15-11 on the campaign. The Tornadoes host Northshore (Slidell, LA) to play the Panthers in a 5A District 6 bout on Friday, February 2. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 12-12. Northshore lost 55-53 in their recent league bout against St. Paul's (Covington, LA)

Next up, the Lions play the Slidell Tigers (Slidell, LA) in a 5A District 6 bout, on Thursday, February 1. Covington will attempt to upgrade on its 11-13 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 20-9 record after their 73-71 league loss to Ponchatoula (Ponchatoula, LA).
