In Friday's league contest, the host Mt. Vernon Wildcats basketball team scored a close 45-39 triumph over the Tell City Marksmen.

The Wildcats (9-8) will now prepare for their contest against Princeton (Princeton, IN). The Tigers go into the Pocket contest with a 16-1 record. In their last contest, Princeton nipped North Posey (Poseyville, IN), 52-38, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Marksmen battle the Springs Valley Blackhawks (French Lick, IN) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, February 1. Tell City will attempt to better on its 6-10 season record. The Blackhawks go into the contest with a 4-11 record after their 69-57 non-league loss to Tecumseh (Lynnville, IN).
