North Carolina High School Basketball - Laney nipped by New Hanover

February 1, 2023: Wilmington, NC 28401

The New Hanover Wildcats tipped the visiting Laney Buccaneers basketball team by a final score of 52-46 in Wednesday's league game.

In their next game, the Wildcats face the Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) in a 3A/4A Conference 20 game, on Friday, February 3. New Hanover will attempt to move on its 17-2 season record. The Pirates enter the game with a 3-17 record after their 79-57 league loss to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC).

With the defeat, Laney moves to 18-3 on the year. The Buccaneers host South Brunswick (Southport, NC) to face the Cougars in a 3A/4A Conference 20 game on Friday, February 3. The Cougars enter the game with a record of 6-14. South Brunswick won 55-42 in their recent non-league game against Whiteville (Whiteville, NC)
