In Thursday's non-league contest, the visiting Desert Edge Scorpions basketball team scored a good 37-28 triumph over the Independence Patriots.

The Scorpions (5-17) will now prepare for their contest against Buckeye (Buckeye, AZ). The Hawks go into the 5A Desert West contest with a 15-10 record. In their last contest, Buckeye topped Youngker (Buckeye, AZ), 61-30, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Patriots confront the Glendale Cardinals (Glendale, AZ) in a 5A Central Valley contest, on Friday, February 7. Independence will attempt to better on its 4-11 season record. The Cardinals go into the contest with a 9-6 record after their 41-14 non-league loss to Agua Fria (Avondale, AZ).
