North Carolina High School Basketball - Watauga thwarts Freedom

February 7, 2023: Morganton, NC 28655

The Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) basketball knocked off the host Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 59-46 in Tuesday's league test.

The Pioneers (17-6) will now prepare for their test against Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC). The Huskies go into the 3A/4A Conference 52 test with a 16-6 record. In their last test, Ashe County notched a victory over South Caldwell (Hudson, NC), 59-44, in a league test.

The Patriots now own a 12-10 record. They play next when they host Alexander Central for a 3A/4A Conference 52 test on Friday, February 10. Freedom will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 47-45 league loss to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 17-6.
