Game Summary
CARDINALS GET NOTHING IN LOSS TO EAGLES
Saturday, April 15, 2023 – With early control for the division hanging in the balance, the La Salle Academy Cardinals got nothing (no runs, no hits) in their 0-10 loss in five innings to the visiting St. Edmund Prep Eagles on Randall’s Island. The loss snaps the Cardinals three-game winning streak and drops their record to 3-5 overall and 3-1 in the CHSAA ‘A’ division as they hit the one-third mark of the season.
St. Edmund’s pitcher, John Leahy, was in complete command and did not allow a Cardinals’ runner past first base as he struck out 11 over the five-inning performance. La Salle starter, Anthony Gonzalez (L, 0-1) was betrayed by early inning defensive miscues which allowed seven runs (5 earned) on only four hits. Gonzalez never really found his groove over his three-inning stint and gave way to Yasser Calderon who pitched the last two for the Cardinals.
