Game Summary
QUARTERS ARE FINAL FOR LA SALLE
The La Salle Academy rollercoaster ride season came to an end yesterday as they dropped their Quarter-Final playoff game 1-13 to St. Edmund Prep at McGuire Field in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn. The Cardinals finished at 6-12 overall and 6-8 and in third place of the CHSAA varsity baseball Intersectional ‘A’ south division.
The Cardinals struck first in the top of the first inning as a wind blown single by Henry Vasseur allowed Manuel Ramirez from second after drawing a two-out walk. Ramirez (L) was solid in the first inning but ended up being the hard luck loser as the La Salle defense, which had been an issue all year, failed to convert a third out fly ball, which lead to a seven run inning for St. Edmund. The Eagles and pitcher John Leahy took control from there as La Salle managed only one hit the rest of the way to the season’s end.
Notes: Special thanks to the Captain, senior, Eamon Moogan as he played his last game for La Salle.
