New York High School Baseball - Monsignor Scanlan loses to LaSalle Academy
April 20, 2023: Bronx, NY 10465 In Thursday's league game, the visiting LaSalle Academy Cardinals baseball team scored a tight 7-3 victory over the Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders.
The Cardinals (4-5) will now prepare for their game against Nazareth (Brooklyn, NY). The Kingsmen go into the Catholic A - North game with a 0-2 record. In their last game, Nazareth was overwhelmed by Cathedral Prep (Elmhurst, NY), 13-7, in a league game.
The Crusaders (3-7) will now prepare for their game against KIPP NYC College Prep (New York, NY). The Bulldogs go into the non-league game with a 0-0 record.
Game Summary
When you go on the road you take what is being given and yesterday, the La Salle Cardinals, did just that, taking the 12 walks and five hit batters given to them to defeat Monsignor Scanlan 7-3 in the Bronx. The win improves the Cardinals record to 4-5 overall and 4-1 in the CHSAA ‘A’ Division.
Cardinals captain, Eamon Moogan, led the charge going 3 for 4, with a double, RBI and run scored at the plate and pitching a scoreless final two innings to earn his second victory of the season. Manuel Ramirez started the game for La Salle and was solid in four innings of week giving up only three hits with three runs (two earned) to go with nine strikeouts against four walks.
