Iowa High School Softball - Newton nudges East Marshall
May 28, 2024: Newton, IA 50208 Newton Cardinals (Newton, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting East Marshall Mustangs (Le Grand, IA), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.
The Cardinals now own a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they host Pella for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 29. Newton will battle a Dutch squad coming off a 6-4 non-league loss to Gilbert (Gilbert, IA). The Dutch record now stands at 1-1.
With the loss, East Marshall falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Dike-New Hartford (Dike, IA) to battle the Wolverines in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 29. The Wolverines enter the challenge with a record of 1-1. Dike-New Hartford lost 4-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Hudson (Hudson, IA)
