North Carolina High School Football - Apex can't hold off Holly Springs

September 5, 2025: Apex, NC 27502

Holly Springs Golden Hawks (Holly Springs, NC) boosters were content Friday as they observed their football squad nudge the host Apex Cougars (Apex, NC), 27-21 in a non-league match.

The Golden Hawks (2-1) will now prepare for their match against Apex Friendship (Apex, NC). The Patriots go into the non-league battle with a 3-0 record. In their last battle, Apex Friendship nipped Southern Lee (Sanford, NC), 40-21, in a non-league battle.

The Cougars now have a 0-3 record. They play next when they travel to Chapel Hill for a non-league battle on Friday, September 12. Apex will play a Tigers team coming off a 42-0 non-league win over Carrboro (Carrboro, NC). The Tigers record now stands at 3-0.
