In Friday's non-league game, the Murphy Bulldogs (Murphy, NC) football team were victorious over the visiting Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC), by a score of 49-27.

The Bulldogs (2-1) will now prepare for their game against Fannin County (Blue Ridge, GA). The Rebels come into the non-league game with a 2-1 record. In their last game, Fannin County knocked off Pickens (Jasper, GA), 52-28, in a non-league game.

The Mustangs now sport a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pisgah for a 3A Mountain 7 game on Friday, September 15. Smoky Mountain will battle a Bears team coming off a 32-7 non-league win over Hayesville (Hayesville, NC). The Bears record now stands at 4-0.
