September 12, 2023: Glenelg, MD 21737 The Glenelg Gladiators (Glenelg, MD) volleyball overcame the visiting Atholton Raiders (Columbia, MD), 3-0 in Tuesday's league outing.
With the win, Glenelg upgrades its record to 7-0 on the year. The Gladiators host Reservoir (Fulton, MD) to face the 'Gators in a Howard County outing on Tuesday, September 19. The 'Gators go into the outing with a record of 0-1. Reservoir lost 3-2 in their recent league outing against Howard (Ellicott City, MD)
The Raiders now own a 1-3 record. They play next when they host Our Lady of Good Counsel for a non-league outing on Thursday, September 14. Atholton will face a Falcons squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to St. John's (Washington, DC). The Falcons record now stands at 2-1.
Match Summary
Glenelg started strong and was able to capitalize on some unforced errors from Atholton early on. As a much improved team, Atholton kept themselves in the match with their tough serving and had some great digs and kills at times. Glenelg was able to maintain some composure and win a lot of transition points to finish out the match.
