The Grand Island Islanders triumphed over the host Standing Bear Grizzlies softball squad by a count of 11-5 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Islanders play the Fremont Tigers (Fremont, NE) in a A District battle, on Tuesday, September 23. Grand Island will attempt to better on its 4-12 season record. The Tigers come into the battle with a 3-16 record after their 9-6 league win over Lincoln High (Lincoln, NE).

With the loss, Standing Bear moves to 12-10 on the season. The Grizzlies travel to Gretna (Gretna, NE) to confront the Dragons in a non-league battle on Monday, September 22. The Dragons enter the challenge with a record of 17-6. Gretna won 2-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Lincoln East (Lincoln, NE)
