September 22, 2023: Black Mountain, NC 28711 The Owen Warhorses football team (Black Mountain, NC), was knocked off 35-18 in Friday's league challenge with the visiting Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC)
The Mountaineers (6-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Wildcats come into the Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge with a 5-1 record. In their last challenge, Draughn knocked off Avery County (Newland, NC), 49-7, in a league challenge.
The Warhorses now sport a 1-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mountain Heritage for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Friday, September 29. Owen will meet a Cougars team coming off a 42-12 league win over Rosman (Rosman, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 3-2.
