In Friday's league match, the visiting Mt. Vernon Mustangs football squad scored a good 42-17 victory over the Assumption Knights.

In their next game, the Mustangs clash with the Maquoketa Cardinals (Maquoketa, IA) in a 3A District 4 match, on Friday, October 7. Mt. Vernon will attempt to move on its 6-1 season record. The Cardinals enter the match with a 1-5 record after their 42-21 league loss to Central DeWitt (DeWitt, IA).
