Mississippi High School Basketball - Walnut edges Pine Grove
January 12, 2024: Walnut, MS 38683 The Walnut Wildcats (Walnut, MS) basketball nipped the visiting Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS), 50-47 in Friday's non-league test.
The Wildcats (10-9) will now prepare for their test against East Union (Blue Springs, MS). The Urchins go into the 2A Region 1 test with a 11-8 record. In their last test, East Union was tipped by West Union (Myrtle, MS), 64-53, in a non-league test.
The Panthers now own a 11-7 record. They play next when they host Falkner for a 1A Region 2 test on Tuesday, January 16. Pine Grove will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 61-51 non-league win over Tupelo Christian Prep (Belden, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 6-13.
