January 12, 2024: Jewett, TX 75846 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Lovelady Lions (Lovelady, TX) and the host Leon Cougars (Jewett, TX), saw Lovelady's basketball squad wallop Leon by a tally of 63-32.
With the victory, Lovelady improves its record to 14-7 on the campaign. The Lions host Grapeland (Grapeland, TX) to play the Sandies in a 2A Region III District 20 challenge on Tuesday, January 16. The Sandies come into the challenge with a record of 10-9. Grapeland won 66-36 in their recent league challenge against Latexo (Latexo, TX)
Next up, the Cougars play the Groveton Indians (Groveton, TX) in a 2A Region III District 20 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. Leon will attempt to improve on its 20-4 season record. The Indians come into the challenge with a 6-19 record after their 38-19 league loss to Centerville (Centerville, TX).
