Texas High School Basketball - Leon tops Centerville
January 5, 2024: Jewett, TX 75846 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Leon Cougars (Jewett, TX) and the visiting Centerville Tigers (Centerville, TX), saw Leon's basketball squad knock off Centerville by a tally of 47-31.
With the victory, Leon improves its record to 19-3 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Latexo (Latexo, TX) to play the Tigers in a 2A Region III District 20 challenge on Tuesday, January 9. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 2-7. Latexo lost 71-17 in their recent league challenge against Lovelady (Lovelady, TX)
Next up, the Tigers play the Grapeland Sandies (Grapeland, TX) in a 2A Region III District 20 challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Centerville will attempt to improve on its 7-15 season record. The Sandies come into the challenge with a 8-8 record after their 61-37 league win over Groveton (Groveton, TX).
