Hemphill Hornets (Hemphill, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Central Heights Blue Devils (Nacogdoches, TX), 46-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Hemphill upgrades its record to 11-9 on the season. The Hornets travel to Diboll (Diboll, TX) to clash with the Lumberjacks in a 3A Region III District 21 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Lumberjacks go into the bout with a record of 10-7. Diboll won 59-43 in their recent league bout against Huntington (Huntington, TX)

Next up, the Blue Devils clash with the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves (Lufkin, TX) in a 3A Region III District 21 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Central Heights will attempt to upgrade on its 13-8 season record. The Timberwolves go into the bout with a 12-13 record after their 49-44 league loss to Pollok Central (Pollok, TX).
