January 25, 2023: Newton, TX 75966 Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Hemphill Hornets (Hemphill, TX) and the host Newton Eagles (Newton, TX), saw Hemphill's basketball squad overcome Newton by a tally of 57-43.
With the victory, Hemphill improves its record to 13-10 on the campaign. The Hornets host Huntington (Huntington, TX) to confront the Red Devils in a 3A Region III District 21 challenge on Friday, January 27. The Red Devils come into the challenge with a record of 15-13. Huntington lost 49-22 in their recent league challenge against Pollok Central (Pollok, TX)
Next up, the Eagles confront the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves (Lufkin, TX) in a 3A Region III District 21 challenge, on Friday, January 27. Newton will attempt to improve on its 1-6 season record. The Timberwolves come into the challenge with a 12-16 record after their 63-34 league loss to Woodville (Woodville, TX).
