Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC), 55-48 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Wilkes Central upgrades its record to 8-8 on the season. The Eagles host North Surry (Mount Airy, NC) to play the Greyhounds in a 2A Conference 37 bout on Friday, January 20. The Greyhounds go into the bout with a record of 16-1. North Surry won 97-70 in their recent league bout against Surry Central (Dobson, NC)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Mount Airy Granite Bears (Mount Airy, NC) in a 1A Conference 36 bout, on Friday, January 20. East Wilkes will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record.
