Hazleton Area Cougars (Hazleton, PA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Wilkes-Barre (Wilkes-Barre, PA), 61-60 in a league bout.

With the victory, Hazleton Area upgrades its record to 8-4 on the campaign. The Cougars host Wyoming Valley West (Plymouth, PA) to play the Spartans in a Wyoming Valley 1 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 2-10. Wyoming Valley West won 67-58 in their recent league bout against Tunkhannock (Tunkhannock, PA)
