The Hazleton Area Cougars basketball team scored 56 points and held the visiting Wilkes-Barre to 50 in the Cougars league triumph on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 12-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Wyoming Valley West for a Wyoming Valley 1 contest on Tuesday, February 7. Hazleton Area will meet a Spartans team coming off a 51-46 league loss to Tunkhannock (Tunkhannock, PA). The Spartans record now stands at 4-14.

The (4-10) will now prepare for their contest against Berwick (Berwick, PA). The Bulldogs enter the Wyoming Valley 1 contest with a 4-14 record. In their last contest, Berwick was nudged by Crestwood (Mountain Top, PA), 58-41, in a league contest.
