January 14, 2025: Mt. Vernon, SD 57363 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Wessington Springs Spartans (Wessington Springs, SD) and the host Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans (Mt. Vernon, SD), observed Wessington Springs's basketball team overcome Mt. Vernon/Plankinton by a score of 59-40.
The Spartans (6-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Hitchcock-Tulare (Tulare, SD). The Patriots come into the non-league challenge with a 2-5 record. In their last challenge, Hitchcock-Tulare defeated Warner (Warner, SD), 51-48, in a league bout.
With the loss, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton falls to 1-7 on the campaign. The Titans travel to Platte/Geddes (Platte, SD) to play the Black Panthers in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 16. The Black Panthers go into the bout with a record of 4-3. Platte/Geddes won 49-32 in their recent non-league bout against Corsica/Stickney (Corsica, SD)
