The Ponaganset Chieftains routed the visiting Scituate Spartans basketball team by a final score of 63-32 in Monday's league game.

In their next game, the Chieftains face the East Providence Townies (East Providence, RI) in a State Championship game, on Wednesday, January 18. Ponaganset will attempt to move on its 8-4 season record. The Townies enter the game with a 2-7 record after their 59-54 league win over St. Raphael Academy (Pawtucket, RI).

With the defeat, Scituate moves to 1-8 on the year. The Spartans travel to South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI) to face the Rebels in a State Championship game on Thursday, January 26. The Rebels enter the game with a record of 8-5.
