Rhode Island High School Basketball - Rogers can't hold off Ponaganset

The Ponaganset Chieftains basketball team scored 45 points and held the visiting Rogers Vikings to 42 in the Chieftains league triumph on Monday.

The Chieftains now sport a 4-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Portsmouth for a State Championship contest on Wednesday, January 4. Ponaganset will battle a Patriots team coming off a 50-46 league win over South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI). The Patriots record now stands at 5-2.

The Vikings (2-2) will now prepare for their contest against South Kingstown (Wakefield, RI). The Rebels enter the non-league contest with a 4-2 record. In their last contest, South Kingstown was nudged by Portsmouth (Portsmouth, RI), 50-46, in a league contest.
