In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Sandhills Valley Mavericks basketball team scored a close 53-47 win over the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/Cowgirls.

The Mavericks (6-3) will now prepare for their contest against Hyannis (Hyannis, NE). The Longhorns come into the non-league contest with a 6-4 record. In their last contest, Hyannis edged Twin Loup (Sargent, NE), 71-65, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cowboys/Cowgirls battle the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs (Gordon, NE) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 18.
