The Cromwell Cardinals basketball team scored 53 points and held the visiting Mesabi East Giants to 49 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Cardinals now sport a 11-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Kelley for a A Section 7 contest on Friday, January 20. Cromwell will battle a Mariners team coming off a 45-30 league loss to Carlton (Carlton, MN). The Mariners record now stands at 2-9.

The Giants (6-5) will now prepare for their contest against Esko (Esko, MN). The Eskomos enter the AA Section 7 contest with a 7-5 record. In their last contest, Esko nudged Moose Lake/Willow River (Moose Lake, MN), 71-20, in a league contest.
