North Carolina High School Basketball - Porter Ridge edges Monroe

The Porter Ridge Pirates (Indian Trail, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC), 52-47 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Pirates (5-9) will now prepare for their test against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Mavericks go into the 4A Southern Carolina test with a 10-4 record. In their last test, Marvin Ridge was tipped by Fort Mill (Fort Mill, SC), 65-51, in a non-league test.

The Redhawks now own a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host Sun Valley for a non-league match on Wednesday, January 3. Monroe will meet a Spartans team coming off a 68-66 non-league win over Albemarle (Albemarle, NC). The Spartans record now stands at 4-8.
