The Sun Valley Spartans basketball team (Monroe, NC), was nudged 66-63 in Wednesday's non-league battle with the visiting Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC)

The Redhawks now possess a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Parkwood for a 2A/3A Rocky River battle on Friday, February 9. Monroe will battle a Wolf Pack team coming off a 79-65 league win over Anson (Wadesboro, NC). The Wolf Pack record now stands at 13-7.

The Spartans (7-15) will now prepare for their battle against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Mavericks come into the 4A Southern Carolina battle with a 14-8 record. In their last battle, Marvin Ridge was nudged by South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC), 60-52, in a non-league battle.
