Lytle Pirates (Lytle, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Crystal City Javelinas (Crystal City, TX), 72-65 in a league bout.

With the victory, Lytle upgrades its record to 22-6 on the campaign. The Pirates host Natalia (Natalia, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 3A Region IV District 28 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 3-16. Natalia lost 69-49 in their recent league bout against Hondo (Hondo, TX)

Next up, the Javelinas play the Dilley Wolves (Dilley, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 28 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Crystal City will attempt to upgrade on its 13-12 season record. The Wolves come into the bout with a 6-16 record after their 59-57 league win over Cotulla (Cotulla, TX).
