January 23, 2024: West Caldwell, NJ 07006 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Caldwell Chiefs (West Caldwell, NJ) and the visiting Payne Tech Lions (Newark, NJ), saw Caldwell's basketball squad hold off Payne Tech by a tally of 42-40.
With the victory, Caldwell improves its record to 8-7 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Clifton (Clifton, NJ) to confront the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 25. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 6-10. Clifton lost 31-29 in their recent league challenge against Passaic (Passaic, NJ)
Next up, the Lions confront the St. Benedict's Prep Gray Bees (Newark, NJ) in a Freelance challenge, on Thursday, January 25. Payne Tech will attempt to improve on its 9-5 season record. The Gray Bees come into the challenge with a 10-5 record after their 90-44 league win over King (Stamford, CT).
