The Alexander Central Cougars basketball team scored 50 points and held the visiting Hibriten Panthers to 44 in the Cougars league triumph on Tuesday.

The Cougars now sport a 16-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Watauga for a 3A/4A Northwestern contest on Wednesday, January 24. Alexander Central will battle a Pioneers team coming off a 70-67 league win over Freedom (Morganton, NC). The Pioneers record now stands at 13-3.

The Panthers (13-2) will now prepare for their contest against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Spartans enter the 3A/4A Northwestern contest with a 9-9 record. In their last contest, South Caldwell was nudged by Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 56-48, in a league contest.
