Mississippi High School Basketball - Jefferson County can't hold off Port Gibson
January 23, 2025: Port Gibson, MS 39150 Port Gibson Blue Waves (Port Gibson, MS) supporters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting Jefferson County Tigers (Fayette, MS), 49-48 in a league match.
With the victory, Port Gibson advances its record to 8-15 on the year. The Blue Waves host Wesson (Wesson, MS) to face the Cobras in a 3A Region 7 match on Tuesday, January 28. The Cobras enter the match with a record of 6-18. Wesson lost 61-41 in their recent league match against Franklin County (Meadville, MS)
The Tigers now own a 6-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host South Pike for a 3A Region 7 match on Friday, January 24.
